Strength & Grace Reserve

Job 1:22 - In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly

I’ve often wondered how Job could react that way after literally losing everything (oxen, donkeys, sheep, servants, camels, and children). Some strength huh?  The bible says that Job was perfect, upright, feared God, and eschewed evil. It also stated he arose every morning and offered burnt offerings to God for the sins of his children.    Job chapter 1 makes it very clear that Job was a wealthy who had a dedicated walk with God, a walk that built on godly habits. These habits gave God the room to pour his strength into the man from Uz as his life was flipped on its head. None can bare the burden of losing 10 children unless they were proven of God. That brand of strength just doesn’t appear out of thin air.

The decisions we make carry spiritual weight.

Every AM Job arose and prayed…God reserved strength and extended grace

Every AM Job arose and offered burnt offerings… God reserved strength and extended grace

Every time Job resisted temptation… God reserved strength and extended grace

Every time Job chose to be humble, give a soft answer, be loving, patient, of kind…God reserved strength and extended grace

All the while God knows that Job will need this “strength reserve” that day his life falls apart.    If we display godly habits, God will supply us with grace (favor/enabling power) to do anything.    However, the day will come when grace will get drawn back and we will need God’s strength to see us through the trials of life! Let me prove it…

2 Corinthians 12:9 - …My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in thy weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Christ does his best work in our weak moments! Because of Jesus, we will never show more resilience, fortitude, gumption, or strength then when times get horribly hard-hitting. Lastly: If we carve out a close walk with Christ through our godly habits (prayer, fasting, charity, humility, etc), we will be blessed beyond measure through his grace.   And when the enemy comes in like a flood God will download his unfailing strength into our spirits so we can “sinned not, nor charged God foolishly”.  Job understood this principle very well. That is how he was able to state in Job 17:9 - …he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.

What’s the balance of your strength account?
